We would like to congratulate Meagan Winters on her recent wedding!

The CIACP (Central Indiana Association of Collaborative Professionals) is hosting an advanced collaborative training: “Money, Law and Values-Based Collaborative Conflict Resolution,” presented by Pauline Tesler, July 11th, from 9a-4p, at Hillcrest Country Club. Earn CLEs and enjoy the social mixer after the training. Melissa Avery has been named co-chair of the Sponsorship Committee for the ABA Family Law section, as well as having been nominated to a second term on the Board of Governors of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

On July 15th, there will be a breakfast with Magistrate Will Greenaway as the featured speaker, organized by the Family Law Section of the HCBA (Hamilton County Bar Association), with assistance by Mark Glazier. Magistrate Greenaway will have the opportunity to address the guests and the guests will ask questions. BKR Family Law is sponsoring and providing breakfast for all the attendees.

Melanie Reichert will host two seminars for the NBI (National Business Institute) on August 1st: Witness Testimony and Mental Health Evidence in Custody and Abuse Cases. www.nbi-sems.com

On July 1st, 2014, legislative amendments championed by Melissa Avery, as immediate past chair of the Indiana State Association Family & Juvenile Section, went into effect making paternity court records public. These amendments will increase access to justice for families across Indiana.

Grandparent visitation is discussed in the case of K.L v E.H. Trial court concluded that grandparent visitation was appropriate, in light of evidence that the mother was cutting off grandfather’s efforts to see the child (Read here)
