September 2014

We are proud to announce that Nissa Ricafort has been named the 2017 President of the Indianapolis Bar Association.

Melissa Avery has been invited by the Esteemed Lawyers of America to become one of their members; the ELOA’s goal is to recognize the most respected lawyers in the country. She also will be participating in the ABA Family Law Section’s strategic planning session in Chicago on Sept. 12th.

Erin Durnell has been busy. She continues her work on Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) matters with our immigration side that helps immigrant children who are victims of abuse, abandonment, or neglect. For more information about her work on SIJ, refer to this link to our website: https://bkrfamilylaw.com/news-events

In addition, she is co-chairing with Briana Clark of Bingham Greenebaum and Doll the Indianapolis Bar Foundation’s largest fundraiser, Evening Under the Stars. The event will be at the Crane Bay on Oct. 10th. The event will include silent and live auctions, dinner, cocktails and live entertainment.

On the Personal Side:

Congratulations to Mike Wilkins and his family for his daughter’s recent wedding.

Amanda Blystone continues to volunteer as a Girls on the Run certified running coach. Girls on the Run is a non-profit that empowers girls in grades 3rd-8th, through running. Their 24 lesson plan culminates in a 5K.

Meagan Winters, a proud dog mama of Izzy and Lola, still serves as Secretary of Paws and Think. Paws and Think recently received a $15K grant to benefit their youth canine program.

Both Melissa Avery’s kids are on the Cross Country Team of Immaculate Heart of Mary, as well as her 11-year-old son starting Boy Scouts with Troop 174.
